Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood located in the West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" location. People who don't understand they mistakenly believe it is the West Island extends westward from Montreal. In fact this is not the case. West Island includes everything westward from that city Lachine. Amanda Brugel was born there and her time in the city wasn't long. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa in Ontario. She aspired to be professional, however due to a rapid expansion, she surpassed all of her dancing partners. In an article from the Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. As I got bigger than my male partners, I quit. A lot of former dancers go on to acting and in the case of Brugel, it was a suggestion from an instructor in drama at high school who encouraged her to go in that direction. A teacher suggested that she take part in an audition for the annual school production. After trying out the role, she was chosen as the leading lady of Anne of Green Gables. The Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned the Bachelors in Fine Arts in the year 2000. Since then, Brugel has been performing in over 60 plays, big and small. Most notable was when she landed Rita's role on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel made an appearance on only a handful of moments in the very first season of The Handmaid's Tale. She was the only Canadian member.
